What Is a
Tongue- or Lip-Tie?

A tongue-tie occurs when the thin tissue (frenum) under the tongue is too tight or short, restricting movement. A lip-tie happens when the frenum connecting the upper lip to the gums is thick or tight, limiting lip mobility.

In infants, these conditions can cause:

  • Difficulty breastfeeding or bottle feeding
  • Clicking sounds or prolonged feeding times
  • Poor weight gain
  • Gassiness or reflux from swallowing air
  • Soreness for nursing parents

* In older children, untreated ties may contribute to speech difficulties or spacing issues in the front teeth.

Gentle
Laser Treatment

We use soft-tissue laser technology to perform frenectomies safely and comfortably — no scalpels or stitches required.

Benefits of laser treatment include:

  • Minimal discomfort – most babies tolerate the procedure very well
  • Little to no bleeding or swelling
  • Faster healing – tissue typically heals within a few days
  • Improved feeding almost immediately

* The laser works by gently releasing the restrictive tissue while sealing as it goes, resulting in aclean, precise treatment area
