First
Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends a child’s first dental visit by age one, or within six months after their first tooth appears. Early visits allow us to monitor your child’s development, answer questions, and catch small issues before they become big ones.

At your baby’s first appointment, we’ll:

  • Perform a gentle oral exam to check teeth, gums, and jaw growth
  • Discuss teething and home care routines
  • Offer guidance on brushing, toothpaste use, and fluoride
  • Talk about pacifier habits and thumb-sucking
  • Review nutrition, bottle, and sippy cup practices
  • Answer all your questions in a relaxed, supportive setting
  • We take a “knee-to-knee” approach for infants — allowing your child to sit securely in your lap during the exam — so the visit feels safe and comforting.

Parent Guidance
& Home Care

We believe that prevention starts at home.

During early visits, we’ll teach parents how to:

  • Clean gums and emerging teeth with a soft brush or wipe
  • Choose the right toothbrush and toothpaste for your child’s age
  • Encourage healthy habits and limit sugary snacks and drink
  • Make brushing fun and part of your daily routine
  • Our team is here to guide and support you through each milestone, from the first tooth to the first full set

Teething &
Comfort Tips

Teething can be tough on babies (and parents).

We’ll share practical tips to ease discomfort, such as:

  • Gently massaging the gums
  • Using chilled (not frozen) teething rings
  • Avoiding numbing gels or home remedies that may not be safe

* We’re always available to answer questions or check your child’s mouth if you’re unsure about what’s normal during teething.

Our Approach

We love helping little ones start life with healthy, happy smiles. Every visit is designed to be positive, gentle, and educational — helping parents feel confident and children feel safe from the very start.
